Prime Time!

I have been on the hunt for a great primer to use that will help keep my face matte through out the day.  I have tired a few, but haven't found one that actually worked, or that I liked.

I currently use Porefessional my Benefit cosmetics, but since I am almost out, I got a few samples of mattifing primers.

The first one I tired was Becca Ever-Matte Pore less Primer.  I am a big Becca fan, so I was excited to try this.  The constancy of this primer is thick and a bit sticky.  I used it a while back and I remember not liking it, but I couldn't remember why.  When I put the primer on I immediately noticed how sticky it felt on my face.  I was pretty taken back by that, but I kept applying and shortly after I put it on, the tackiness went away.  The thing to remember when applying this primer is, do not rub it on your face. You have to press it into your skin.  If you using wiping motions, or rubbing motions, shortly after you apply your foundation you will see your make up start to pill and get blotchy.  I made that mistake and all around my noise I looked like I had little dots everywhere and when I tried to blend it out it just got worse!

Once I was done applying my foundation and I set my concealer and foundation with a MAC powder, I went to work and waited to see if the primer made a difference.   I did notice that after an 8 hour work day my face wasn't as oily as before, BUT what I didn't like is if I touched my face, my make up would move around and leave weird marks.  The other thing I noticed was something that happened the following day.  I washed my face at night and did my normal face routine, but the next day I woke up with SO MUCH oil on my face.  I don't know if that was coincidental, but it was the weirdest thing!

Over all I was pretty happy with the longevity of the primer and the wearability.  It will take some getting used to when applying.  I want to make sure iI apply it right so I can forgo any pilling of foundation, but I also don't have a  lot of time in the morning so I tend to just slop on my primer and move fast.  I will have to slow down until I get the hang of this primer.

I would recommend trying this one out of you have oily skin.  Its $36 for a good size bottle, which will last at least 3 months, probably longer because you only use a little bit.

The 2nd primer i tried was the Mister Mat by Givenchy and all I have to say is, i didn't like it....at all.  It has a silky constancy, which to me felt like oil.  It reminded me of a primer that someone who has dry skin would really like.  I put this on and it did nothing.  My face was still oily, I didn't see a difference and I was just so disappointed.  The Givenchy primer is the same cost as the Becca one, but it is only .8oz vs. .35!
I have nothing more to say about this because I did not like it at all.

I will keep testing out the Becca primer, but once I run out of my sample, if I haven't perfected using it, I probably will go back to my Professional Primer....which I love, love, love!
