To Prime or Not To Prime

Do you use a primer?

I only started using a primer about a year ago because I didn't think it was something that really made a difference to use.  I started using eye primer before I started with a face primer.  One day I thought to myself, "If this eye primer works this awesome, then a face primer might be something I want to look into!"

I have pretty normal skin that can get very dry in the winter and a bit oily in the summer.  I always noticed that my face always looked blotchy and I never really knew how to fix it. Once I started using a face primer, that all went away! My make up went on so smooth and my face stopped looking blotchy.
My favorite primer i use is the Make Up Forever HD Face Primer.  This primer is a bit pricey ($40), but to me, it's worth every penny.  It does last a long time.  A little goes away.  You only use a dime size and spread it all over your face, mostly around your t-zone and cheeks.  I put it on after I put on my face moisturizer.  Once you apply the primer, let it sit for a minute.  I do my eye make up to spare the time, then continue with my foundation.   If you would like to test it out, this product is sold at Sephora and they are very generous with their samples.

Another good primer I use is the Nars Pore Refining Primer.  This product cost $32 and you can buy it at Sephora or at a Nars counter.  If you are in Rochester, the closest counter is in Lord and Taylor in Victor.  The only thing I noticed about this primer.  If you rub it on your face too much, it gets pilly.  So when you use this one, just gently rub it over your skin and let it sit.

If you are looking for a great eye primer to keep your shadow on all day without creasing.  Then you HAVE  to get the Urban Decay primer potion.  It comes in various colors and also a clear color.  Its the best eye primer I have ever used.  Using this gives the shadows a smooth even surface to lay on and if your lids are prone to getting greasy, this will take care of that.  It doesn't feel this way, but essentially its like putting a piece of plastic on your eye to lay your shadow on.  Now I repeat, it DOES NOT feel like you have plastic on your lid, but that's just an example of why it works.

So there you have it! Start getting your prime on! You will be happy you did!
