I have been MIA for a while! Sometimes life gets crazy and you don't have time for anything! Finally I am getting back on track and working on time management!
I am going to hold off on the make up review for this post because I haven't been wearing make up for the past 7, almost 8 weeks!!! Yeah you heard it, 8 weeks of no make up! I never thought I could do that. I mean, sometimes when I just wake up and rushing around, I wash my face and go out the door, but it's not for the whole day. This has been all day, every day for 8 weeks with out make up. Why you ask? It's not by choice or by spiritual revelation...its because I have a STY!!! I have had this thing for 8 weeks. At one point it was so bad that I looked like i had a third eye growing out of my eyelid! My eye Dr. even did a double take when I went in to see him! Thanks Doc!
After 4 or 5 weeks I finally went to the eye Opthamologist that my regular optometrist suggested and it was supposed to be removed. Well that didn't happen. The office scheduled me to come back a few weeks later and by that time, the sty started to go away and there as nothing really there. I didn't want to go in and pay $50 for the Dr to tell me that he couldn't remove anything!
So here we are, 8 weeks out, I still have a little bump on my eye, but it''s almost gone. I have tested wearing mascara and everything seems to be ok, but I just want it to completely go away before I put on full eye make up.
How did I get this sty you ask. Well, I know styes are common. They are caused my bacteria getting into the glands on your lash line and infecting the gland. A lot of times they are in the corners of your eyes. Mine was smack dab in the middle. Also, my doctor told me that they usually form a bump that is on the inside of your lid, mine was alllll external and actually looked like I had an allergic relation from a bug bite. I put hot compresses on my eye all day everyday and I use the antibiotic/ steroid ointment the Dr. gave me and of course, I had a sty that was stubborn and didn't go away with in a week, like they normally do. I really hate admitting this, but I got this because I didn't clean my make up brushes!
I normally use brush cleaner from Clinique between uses, but that's not enough. I hadn't cleaned my brushes in a long time. I have just been busy and I have so many brushes that I didn't have a sold 2 hours to clean my brushes and then allow them to dry over night! Well I learned my lesson! I will clean my brushes every week now! I was also using very old eyeliner and mascara because I was on a budget and I didn't want to buy anything until I could buy the items I wanted, which were pretty pricey.
Long story short, clean your brushes, do not use old eye make up, and NEVER double dip into your cream shadows or liners! Doing all of this will help avoid getting an eye sty! I had to throw out all my mascara, eyeliners and cream shadows that I used the week leading up to this. Luckily everything was pretty much gone and I used the same colors for the past week, so I didn't have to throw too much out. I also deep cleaned my brushes and bought another container so I wasn't shoving too many brushes into one container to where they would touch one another and allow bacteria to transfer from brush to brush!
I also do not recommend the Clinique brush cleaner! I actually hate it. I don't like the smell of it. I really love the Sephora daily antibacterial cleaner. I will be stocking up on that stuff today. I think this is the best daily cleaner you can by and since it is antibacterial it will kill the bacteria that may cause an eye infection. Also, clean your brushes every week. I just use Johnson's and Johnson baby wash. The yellow bottle. Its fragrance free, and will not irritate your eyes and its only $2 for a big bottle!
So, if you take one thing from this blog, take this, CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES! Or you will be make up less for 8 weeks like me :(
Talk to you soon, Beauty Queens! xoxo
